Yanac-a-Yanac
Yanac-a-Yanac was the first property aquired by
James and Jane Little. It is situated 25 kilometers North/West of the township of Nhill, and
covered 35,200 acres. James originally entered a partnership with a Thomas Ford during 1847,
and the licence was transfered into James name wholly six months later and held till 1860. The
licence fees were paid on the basis of 100 head of cattle and 2,000 sheep. Seventen years later
at the time of his death, James Little held the freehold or leasehold on area of over 300 square kilometers,
larger than that of the two counties the family had come from in Ireland!
